Join us in Lucas, Kansas as the 2024 Big Kansas Road Trip (BKRT) takes place in Ellsworth and Lincoln counties plus the community of Lucas on May 2-5, 2024.
Bells & Whistles Bus Tour
June 8, 2024
Plans are underway for our 2024 Motorcoach Tour, “Bells & Whistles”on Saturday, June 8, 2024. The tour will begin at 8:00 am departing from Big Creek Crossing in Hays and travel to sites in Ellis, Russell, and Ellsworth counties. Included will be visits to St. Fidelis Bascilica in Victoria, Native American Massacre Site in Victoria, George Grant Villa near Hays, Fort Fletcher Stone Arch Bridge, and sites in the towns of Walker and Dorrance.
The tour will travel through historic sites in Wilson followed by an authentic German lunch served in the Immanual Lutheran Church in Wilson. After lunch, the bus will travel along the Post Rock Scenic Byway to Lucas where participants will tour the Garden of Eden, Grassroots Art Center, Bowl Plaza and other sites in Lucas.
On the return home, the tour will have drive-bys in Luray and Bunker Hill and fencepost outcroppings along the way. There will also be several points of interest along the way and our guides will provide interesting historical narratives. The bus will return to Hays by 5:00 pm.
A limited number of tickets will be available. Meal and applicable admission fees are included in your $75.00 registration.

Limestone Dressing Demonstration
June 16, 2024
Join us as we help celebrate the 150th Anniversary of Rush County in Bison, Kansas. Neil Unrein will be demonstrating methods of stone carving and dressing. Other events will include an open house at the Bison Community Museum, and the 1878 Lone Star School, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. See the 1930s WPA City Hall and Elementary School. The limestone demonstration will begin at 1:00 pm in the Bison City Park. For more information, visit the website, The 150-Year Rush.
